Welcome!

Israel is marking its 61st irthday. This is, indeed, a good time to get as many people as possible, both in Israel and abroad, to know the country. This is what Let's Tour Israel! is about.

Let's Tour Israel! is a web based project that will enable various groups of students and their teachers anywhere in the world to plan and make a virtual tour of the country. Without resorting to a travel agency, participants are asked to look for, process, assess, and present information to their peers. Hopefully, the project may also trigger real tours of Israel.

The purpose of this experience is that those who take pat in it get to know Israel beyond the image of the country that they may get from reading newspapers, watching television, etc. Conflicts related to ideology, politics and others are left aside. The focus is on both tourism and culture.
Let's Tour Israel! is the English version of Viajemos a Israel, http://viajemosaisrael.blogspot.com/, which was chosen as the innovative experience of August 2007 by Educared, one of Spain's most influential educational portasl. The experience promotes access to and use of New Technologies of Information and Communication. It also calls for collaborative work.

As they work on the project with their students, teachers can use a wide range of tools: they may open a chat room and a forum, use e-mail and e-cards, create a weblog and / or use the school's website.

The expected final product is for each group of students to prepare and show the class a Power Point Presentation / Power Point Show, or a web page, in which they present the tour program. This should be done using computers either on-line or off-line. Each group is expected to explain their program orally.

The blog can serve as a platform on which teachers and students exchange ideas, post comments, ask for advice and so on. It may also be the place where Power Point Presentations or Power Point Shows are published. Participants may also choose to upload a podcast with their oral presentation and a written document (in Word format or other) with their written presentation. Accordingly, sites and tools such as esnips, com, Flickr.com, slideshare.com, slide.com and the like can serve as hosts for the different files the groups choose to upload.
